I had the privilege of working with Hannah as my doula during the birth of my firstborn, a son in May! I am the wife of a pilot so making sure I had a supportive birth team in place for when the time came was so important to me in the event that my husband was traveling when I went into labor. Hannah was with me for almost all 31 hours of labor and when I say I could not have done it without her is an understatement!
My little guy was sunny side up which meant that the back labor was so painful, and Hannah was there through it all supporting me by helping with hip squeezes, advocating for different laboring positions, and continuously telling me I could keep going even when I thought I couldn’t do it! What meant the most was having Hannah there when I was really struggling immediately after birth due to the trauma of my 3rd degree tear. She stood by my side until I felt well enough to hold my little guy and really soak in that special golden hour once he had arrived.
Hannah has really inspired me to consider potentially becoming a doula someday down the road because birth is so empowering!
